It all started with a chair…
One day we both had class at Fletcher and I had gotten out of my first class of the day early. I walked over to go sit in my usual spot which was a chair at the end of the table right next to the door to go upstairs right to where my next class was.
When I walked up to the table I was rather annoyed that this dude stole my chair, but I ended up just sitting in the chair across the table on the other end. At this time there were a bunch of Covid regulations so there were only 2 chairs at this table. As we were sitting there, I noticed him very focused on a math lecture which happened to be the exact math course I was taking at that time too, however, we had different instructors so we went to that class at different times. What’s cool is that both of our classrooms were right next to each other so it made sense as to why he sat at that table too.
Well, I overheard his lecture and looked over to this chair thief and in my perspective I thought he was in need of some help with the material that the lecture was going over because of the way he was shaking his leg and hyper-focusing on the computer screen. I offered him help and explained how I happened to really like math and was very proficient in it.
He declined my offer but minutes later as he was getting up to leave the table, he leans over to hand me his phone to take my number and says, “I think I’ll take you up on that math offer.” Now I didn’t expect anything to come of this I was simply just offering my expertise.
Within a week’s time we met up to study a few times and he ended up asking me out on a date soon after. We had seafood and did some karaoke at a friend of mine’s. Once we were all sung out we headed to a park where we drug the night out a little longer where we talked and just enjoyed each other’s company. At the end of the night he kissed me and from then on out we started seeing each other more and more, getting to know one another and becoming the best of friends.
After several weeks, I asked Brett to come to Arkansas with me to visit with my best friend from high school for the weekend. He gladly accepted. The very last night there, he asked me to officially be his girlfriend.
The rest is history! What’s crazy is that Brett says he almost didn’t go to school that day. I TRULY believe EVERYTHING happens for a reason and God is the reason. He made sure Brett made it to school that day. I couldn’t be happier and any more excited than I am to be marrying my absolute best friend in the world and a hard working man that wants nothing more than to make sure his family is taken care of, safe, and loved beyond measure.

And forever I’ll be your wife, I love you!
One day it all started at Fletcher Community College...
I woke up one morning for school not feeling so great, however I decided to drag myself there anyway. I was sitting in the student commons between classes doing school work like usual, except this time, I decided to randomly switch spots from where I usually sit. Little did I know, this random spot that I picked just so happened to be the usual spot of my future wife.
When sitting there working on my online math class, this cute girl sat across from me at the table in which she usually sat. I thought this was kind of strange because there were so many other places she could have sat. A few minutes had gone by when she then asked me if I needed any help with my math course. She happened to be taking the same math course at the time just with a different teacher at a different time and overheard my lecture playing.
I usually had trouble in this class, but of course, this time happened to be the first time I was understanding the material well, so without hesitation, when she asked me if I needed help, I said no. I instantly regretted saying "No" because I thought she was cute. That's when I panicked and texted my friends about the situation to ask their advice. They told me to take the chance and get this girl's number.
I devised a plan to pull up a new contact card on my phone, and just before I had to go to my next class, I nervously got up, took a deep breath, walked over to where she was sitting, handed her my phone, and said, "I think I'll take you up on that math offer."
At the time, my friends kind of made fun on me when I told them what had happened because they thought she was just there to tutor me in math and only trying to help me with the math class. But, jokes on them because now I'm gonna marry this girl on 3-15-2025!
